Speaking of "the rents" we had a great surprise this weekend; they came to visit! It was a short trip, only two days that they were actually here, but it was great to see them. Mom called Thursday night and said they would be here on Saturday, so I spent all of Friday frantically cleaning, like any good daughter! We got to go to church Sunday and show them what a big boy Xan is to go to the nursery all by himself for the second week in a row. And last night we went to Alex's baseball game to cheer him on. They left this morning, but Mom is coming back in a few weeks so it wasn't a tearful goodbye, especially since they were kind enough to let me sleep when they snuck away early this morning.
There is only one thing this little man wants: his hand. When he's sleeping, he wants his hand. When he's playing, he wants his hand. He even kept trying to sneak it into his mouth while he was nursing. He'd be happily guzzling away and suddenly his hand would appear and push it's way into his rather large mouth. We've tried a "soother" as they call them here...binkie, or pacifier for everyone else; he'll have nothing to do with it. It's pretty cute now, but hopefully he doesn't end up being the kid in 1st grade who's still sucking his thumb.
I promise that he does smile. Whenever I whip out the camera he looks at me like he's never seen me before.
Notice any similarities in these pictures?
Don't they look to young to be grandparent's? Thanks for coming, we miss you already!

Your parents haven't aged a bit! What a great surprise! It's always so comforting to have parents drop in for a visit, even if it is only for 2 days. I'm sure they loved it, too:)
Thanks for your kind little note. One of the frustrating things is that the pups were screened for the "typical" shepherd joint things like problem elbows and hip displaysia... he passed all those. This wrist thing is just an out of the blue fluke. Which sucks. I think you're the only other blogger I read who understands the whole husband- who- works- shift- work type lifestyle, and it's nice to know someone else is in the same boat and "gets it". :) Let me know what you guys decide on a bigger dog. You know, I was a little skeptical about getting a "big" dog as I had only grown up with Boston Terriers (which as you know, are awesome), but Blitz really made me fall in love with shepherds. They are protectors for sure. By the way, your little guy is very, very adorable!
YAY! I'm glad you remember me. :)
You look just like your mom! Wow!
And Abel used to be that way too about his hand. He still puts it in his mouth, but not as much as he did when he was little. He also would try that move while he was nursing. I was like "what the heck, don't you want the boob?"
The hand in the mouth, how cute!!
He is so adorable, and we're so glad as the "rents" that we could
spend some time with all 3 of you.
Can't wait to see you again in a
couple of weeks!!! Zsa Zsa Rent
