8:00

That's what time I went to bed last night...albeit I read for about an hour and a half (book club is tomorrow night, and I'm only half way through the book-oops! We are slowly becoming less of a "read the book and have an intelligent discussion about it" type club to more of a "well, get the book and try and read some of it and we'll have an exuse to go out to dinner and yack" type club)but who goes to bed at 8 besides 6 year olds? The beautiful part is that I slept until 9:30 this morning...yeahers! Why am I telling you this riveting story about my sleep habits? Because I am exhausted!!!! It just seems to be hitting me in the last few days. Everyone says that you'll get more energy during the 2nd trimester, well that's only a week and a half away and the lack of energy is only starting to be felt, so maybe it won't last long? The nausea is starting to subside...let the angels sing and the people rejoice, I haven't thrown up in 5 days, a new world record!! But I'm so stinking tired. I've been beating myself up for not blogging more, but by the time I get home from work I'm just to tired to do anything. Let alone be witty and charming on the old blog. Oh, I should add that I was able to sleep until 9:30, not because I quit my job or the alarm didn't go off, but because I work 1-9 on Wednesdays.

These are some long overdue photos that I've been wanting to share. My talented and hilarious friend Kelly took these when we were in the Burg in March. There are quite a few more, but these are some of my favs. I'll be putting the rest on my Flickr when I work up the energy to sit on my dial-up connection from home for a good hour or so while they upload. I'm planning on putting these into some crisp, white frames for our new chocolate brown wall in the kitchen/dining room/sitting area. You'll see what I mean when it gets finished...suspense...

This is my fav..I'm just waiting for "Couple of the Year" magazine to contact us

I love this picture...I don't know how she captured the true essence of Alex, but here it is folks

And now for some not so artistically taken shots (the lighting came out horribly, but the subjects are so cute, who cares! Lucky for Baby T, Auntie Sarah works at Baby GAP part time and has already sent a shipment of goodies up for us. Yeah! They are so little; i can't believe a person will actually fit into them..yikes...and I'm responsible for it. Thanks Auntie Sarah, you're the best!! Keep it coming :)

I love the stripes on this hat and come on, like it's going to have any hair, I didn't have any until I was two, and Alex doesn't have any now...this kid doesn't have a chance of coming out with hair.

This teeny tiny hoody is tooooo much. It's made to look like a retro seventies throwback. The fabric is that kind of cotton/velour materails and the cuffs and waste band are stretchy...sooo cute.

Looking Back

Happy Anniversary!! It's been a year today since we got our house! So much has happened in and TO our house in the time span of a year. It's hard to believe how different it looks now to compared to when we moved in. There will be a lot of before and after shots to come, don't worry! We just have to get the after actually finished. The kitchen island has been ordered and should be in near the end of September. boo! Oh well, time goes by so quickly I'm sure it will be here before we know it. So a look down memory lane seems apprpriate to remember all the things that have happened throughout the past year.

Here she is, our haven nestled in the trees.

Giving the gold fish some love at the waterfall/pond...so relaxing to hear the water

Our first Christmas in our first house!

The first of many snowmen.

Braving our first winter when I thought the deck would collapse under the weight of all that snow!

And too bad that I'm doing this at work (shhh) and don't have any garden pictures to show the beauty of our first spring. It was such a pleasure to discover all that had been so carefully planned and planted in the gardens. Thanks for the memories and a great first year dear house. We look forward to all that we'll share together in the years to come!

Lights, Camera, Action...

This "movie poster" was created for my work blog but it was too good not to share with everyone. We are learning about generators and wikispaces and all kinds of fun things, but this has been my favorite specimen to date. For those who don't know, this is the signature "Alex look" and is so hilarious to see him do it. He cracks me up!

Okay, have you had enough of my base, toilet humor for today?? Hope it makes you smile.

Cue Whitney Houston's "The Greatest Love of All"

You have that tune in your head? I experienced the Greatest Love of ALL yesterday when I came home from work to find that my hardwood floors were sparkling, the couches and carpet had been vacuumed, the dishes had been done, and even two loads of laundry that had been waiting for me in the laundry room, were freshly laundered! Now, for me to say that my wonderful husband (who by all means does more than his fair share around the house these last few weeks)would be shocking enough, don't get me wrong, I'm not painting him to be one of those do nothing "inside" the house kind of husbands, he's great and oh so helpful! But he does live in our house after all, so I wouldn't blog about him cleaning.

The angel of which I speak is none other than my Sister-in-Law, Elizabeth. My parents fly in tonight, and I was feeling pretty crummy all weekend so procrastinated on all the major "company is coming" kind of cleaning (smart, Holli!). So, being the sacrificial, quiet, stay out of the lime light personality she is, she called Alex when he was working at the farm on Monday and said that she wanted to come over and clean while i was working on Tuesday. This just blows me away. I truly cannot imagine a nicer gift. I think it may be the single most selfless thing you can do for someone to come over and clean their floors. Maybe it's the hormones, but I'm tearing up just thinking about it.

I smile every time I think about the house being clean, okay do I make it sound like we live in a pig sty? we don't, it's just that we had dry wall done and the floors needed a good mopping to get rid of the dust. Now the house is clean, and I can enjoy my parent's being here without being exhausted from all the prep work. So, i wanted to pass along my little story of heartwarming goodness to remind myself and anyone who reads this that an act of kindness can mean so so so much!

Please Welcome...

You may have noticed a new addition to my blog...over to the right, go ahead and take a peak... That's right! Baby Torrie is on the way! I needed some major news to bring me back from a three month blogging hiatus and this definitely qualifies. Alex and I are really excited and anxious and overwhelmed and feeling very humbled. I'm due in early March and just crossing the thresh hold into month two complete with nausea and all the fun things associated with early pregnancy, but it's all worth it. At least I can say that today because I haven't had to spend any time with my good friend, the Porcelain Queen. NO just kidding, it's all worth it. I'm having some major food aversions and poor Alex hasn't had a home cooked meal (unless you count the "things" that he makes) since my mom left last month. I tell him losing a few pounds is a small price to pay for my not dry heaving simply walking through the kitchen.

It's a beautiful Friday afternoon, and I think I'll go swimming in my friend's salt water pool. No chlorine! You can float around without an intertube while overlooking a pasture full of horses and the scenic Beaver Valley (yes, it's in Canada and it's called Beaver Valley, ha ha ha).
